Gymboree was an invaluable resource for me on my maternity leave and beyond. We used to build our day around the class and once I became a full member we used to go to the open gym sessions several times a week too. The teachers were excellent, as were the songs, and I will definitely take my next baby as soon as she is old enough!

The staff at East Dulwich are so friendly and welcoming, my son has a very special connection with them and talks about them a lot when we're at home. What has particularly impressed me is how inclusive and kind everyone has been. My son has a visual impairment, which means he doesn't (currently) participate in talking about the pictures in the classes, and I'll often be telling him when children or equipment are in front of him, and he obviously has less balance and skill on the equipment than his peers. In other private classes with different institutions, he has been made to feel excluded and like a nuisance in the group, so I was hesitant to join Gymboree. I needn't have worried. A quick chat with the team put us at ease, and he was welcomed right into the fun, on his own terms.

The classes are well run and entertaining and a real highlight of our week. My son loves the music, songs and the parachute and bubbles and the classes end on a high of a fun dance. For me the real benefit is the Open Gym sessions. My son's physiotherapist recommended various physical exercises that I was really struggling to fit into normal days; I lacked proper equipment, and in British weather we can't even rely on getting to the park. Other institutions offered 'gym/sports' sessions which were only really weekly, and wouldn't be building his muscle tone regularly in the way he needs. Thanks to Gymboree, we can go most days. We have seen a clear improvement in his muscle tone, and the physio and I are delighted with his progress. What's lovely is that he doesn't feel like it's 'doing his exercises', it feels like an awesome place to be, in a supportive team. Today when I asked him 'Where's your favourite place to go?' He exclaimed 'Gymboree!'

I absolutely love and adore Gymboree East Dulwich. We have been attending for almost a year now and I honestly believe that the impact that the classes and amazing teachers have had on my sons first year of life have been priceless. He is incredibly confident, inquisitive and fearless.
The freedom and skills he has learnt from his weekly classes and the friends he has made along the way I believe have encouraged and nurtured these traits creating a very social and playful little boy.

When we first joined it was great to have access to open gym every day. The classes were good but after a few classes, they felt very repetitive. Once we went up a level they got better but overall we felt there's not enough variety in the classes. The teachers are great though, very engaging with the babies/kids. The last few months of our membership were not great, difficult to book classes (no one picking up the phone or responding to emails), it just felt they were understaffed.

Do adults participate in the classes or are they spectators

Adult Participation Parent-child interaction is the cornerstone of the Gymboree Play & Music programme, therefore please remember to: Listen to the class teacher for instructions. Encourage your child to join in with songs and dances and all other activities. Model the activities for your child.

If my toddler is enrolled in a class can I bring my baby along also?

Younger siblings must be in a carrier pouch/sling. This is so you can leave your arms free, keeping your older child safe, and allowing you to participate in the class. Older siblings cannot attend class with a younger sibling.

Can I do pay as you go?

• Teacher led class (45 mins) - £15 per class, booking will ONLY be confirmed with FULL payment. Strict cancellation policy, full refund for cancellation up to 48hrs prior the start of your class, NO REFUND for cancellation after 24hrs prior the start of your class
• Open gym session (45mins)- £7.50 per session

What are open gyms and how do they work?

45 minutes free play on our set up and access to our stripey bag props, with fun music and Gymboree friends. No teacher present in the room so grown-ups must stay and supervise their little ones during the session. Open gym is walk in only so no booking is required and only 13 children and 13 adults are allowed into the playroom at one time so if the playroom is full you would need to wait until a space becomes available.
• PAYG Open gym session (45mins)- £7.50 per session

Is my baby too young to start classes?

Babies from 10 weeks old can start our BABIES class.

Is there parking?

There's free parking in the surrounding residential streets.

What do I need to bring with me?

• Grown-ups, please remember to bring a pair of socks with you to wear on the play floor. In the summer months we recommend keeping socks in your bag/buggy just in case you come in wearing sandals etc... or you can purchase socks from us for £1.
• We only provide changing table and wet wipes so you will need to bring your own nappies and spare clothes just in case.

Where can I find your timetable?

On our website under local news, you will be able to see our latest timetable.

How does membership work?

On a monthly basis and we do have flexible fun pass and pay as you go options, please email us for more information.

What are make-up classes?

Absence & Make-ups: We do not give credits for when you are on holiday or miss a class due to any reason including sickness. However, we offer make up classes for your missed sessions if you let us know 24 hours before the missed class starts. Make-up classes must be pre-booked up to 7 days before your desired class, and taken within 30 days of the missed class. You cannot attend a make-up class once membership has ended. If you need to cancel a make up class you must give us 24 hours notice via email or you will lose that session.

Both of my children (3.5 years and 11 months) go to Gymboree Play & Music and love it. My toddler goes to their drop-off Lego class which she raves about. It's very creative, working not only on Lego skills but also painting, drawing etc. My infant son loves his Gymboree Play & Music Crawlers class - particularly loves crawling all over their props, through the tunnels, etc. Great way to get the infant crawling over obstacles! Gymboree Play & Music is part of our weekly schedule for both kids and we look forward to participating every week. Invaluable!

Gymboree Play & Music was a lovely and positive experience for my son Leo. We started when he was 9 months and he is now 3 years old, I wish we had started sooner.
He loves the songs (which is part of our daily singing at home), the freedom to explore and he was happy there. He looks forward to class every week and once class is over he will tell everyone about Gymbo and what he did.
For me, I liked that it taught him how to get down safely from a height, how to learn to use his body, and touching on different topics every 2 weeks. It gave me confidence in other environments to trust that he has the ability that he learned from Gymboree Play & Music and to trust him.

Absolutely amazing place! Especially Aaron from the Chiswick branch, always makes us feel very welcome there. He is extremely passionate and professional. His warmth and enthusiasm are precious. I would recommend that place to everyone! So happy we found it in our community. My son loves going there.
