Walkers (10 – 18 months)

Focus: Equipment

Where they are:
Just like that your little one is walking! They might not be steady, but they’ve taken their first few steps! Now more than ever is the time to build those muscles, strengthen those legs, and let those little ones take off!
What to expect in class:
We’ll explore new physical challenges every week through teacher-led activities, with a focus on different ways to use each piece of our equipment. Crawl through tunnels, explore different textures, slide down slides (or climb up slides!), toddle over bridges, or take a ride in a swing!! We’ll also practice social skills and memory building through sing-alongs and group-play.

Benefits:

Physical: Challenging walkers to explore physical movements like climbing, crawling, and balancing supports healthy muscle and bone development.

Cognitive: Repetition, songs, and interacting with their familiar adult supports language development, vocabulary, and memory.

Social: Our classroom environment supports little ones with building confidence and feeling more comfortable in unknown places.

Adults: Get quality time with your little one and give them the space they need to practice their new-found skills!

We love coming to Gymboree every week. Shona and the team are always happy to see us, greeting us warmly every time. The classes are fun and engaging for my child, and the open play sessions always help fill the void when finding indoor activities to do especially on a cold rainy day. The ladies at Gymboree are so lovely and take time to talk to me and my child, it makes the while experience even better.

We love Jack who leads our class in Watford. He’s so wonderful with all the children, always so engaging and sings beautifully. The classes cater for little ones to be engaged and are also fine if they want to run around. Would defo recommend to anyone who wants a regular indoor family activity.

My little girl is nearly one year old and has been going to Gymboree for a few months. Taking her to her weekly class is something I look forward to, and she goes most days to the open play sessions with other carers.
Fundamentally it's a clean, safe, fun, and well equipped place specially designed for children of the target age. Although I enjoy playing with my daughter, it can be tough coming up with ways to keep her amused. I like that for at least one hour a week we can have fun together with someone else worrying about the structure.
My baby loves the sessions and several times was almost beside herself with delight, shrieking with excitement and jumping up and down when it was a favourite activity!
Without a control experiment I can't definitely say her development has been improved (maybe she's just getting older?), but the activities certainly look like they're helping.
There is a good spread of activities. Music and clapping type things, free play focusing on gross motor skills, the first beginnings of social play with other babies, and some fine motor work with things like popping bubbles.
Staff are excellent. Admin staff have been helpful in scheduling. The child-facing staff are lovely, remembering my daughter week to week. Very friendly, professional, and happy place.
In terms of value for money, the daily open sessions make it very good. However if it was just the supervised class the subscription would be pricey.

My son has been going to Gymboree from when he was a year old (he's now 2 and half) and he loved every minute of it. He loved the classes as well as the open gym. The teachers are wonderful and always think of new games to play. The staff is lovely and welcoming. My son loved all the songs and sings them at home as well. Would highly recommend!

We started our classes in Gymboree when my daughter was just 8 months old. She loved the classes and teachers specially Amber. They are accommodating and classes are great. It’s also a great place for my daughter to meet and socialize with other babies.

Gymboree is the highlight of mine and my daughter’s week. We have been going since she was a few weeks old and not only does it provide excellent sensory play once a week, the classes also give me confidence and ideas of my sensory play we can do at home. Adele and the rest of the team makes everyone feel comfortable and helps create an environment where it’s fine if baby needs a feed or is crying and as parents we feel supported.

We have always loved coming to Gymboree, the facilities are fantastic and because the layout of the exciting equipment is always changing it has a lovely mix of being familiar and feeling new each time we come! Our older son Henry came for a number of years and it set him up so well for school nursery. Our younger son Alfie is enjoying it just as much and particularly loves the climbing! Thanks to all the team for always being so friendly, kind and welcoming xXx

I've been taking my baby to Gymboree since he was 4 months old (he's now 7 months), and it's been so amazing for his development, encouraging tactile play, mobility, crawling and interaction with other babies, all with unique songs as well as traditional nursery rhymes. And now moving up into the next class to encourage more climbing and exploration. The variety of play set ups are great and the staff are absolutely excellent. Naeema and Lexi and Emma have been so wonderful taking the babies classes and Pav and others have been so supportive and flexible from a management/ admin perspective. Would highly recommend!

Both of my children (3.5 years and 11 months) go to Gymboree Play & Music and love it. My toddler goes to their drop-off Lego class which she raves about. It's very creative, working not only on Lego skills but also painting, drawing etc. My infant son loves his Gymboree Play & Music Crawlers class - particularly loves crawling all over their props, through the tunnels, etc. Great way to get the infant crawling over obstacles! Gymboree Play & Music is part of our weekly schedule for both kids and we look forward to participating every week. Invaluable!

Gymboree Play & Music was a lovely and positive experience for my son Leo. We started when he was 9 months and he is now 3 years old, I wish we had started sooner.
He loves the songs (which is part of our daily singing at home), the freedom to explore and he was happy there. He looks forward to class every week and once class is over he will tell everyone about Gymbo and what he did.
For me, I liked that it taught him how to get down safely from a height, how to learn to use his body, and touching on different topics every 2 weeks. It gave me confidence in other environments to trust that he has the ability that he learned from Gymboree Play & Music and to trust him.

I’ve been taking both my newborn and toddler to Gymboree Play & Music for a couple of months now and both boys are really loving the classes and open gym sessions. It’s a great way to meet other mums, entertain toddlers at witching hour(!) and get ideas for sensory play with babies. Sophie and Cat are fantastic and have so much energy and loads of different ideas for the classes, plus make sure the activities it’s help children meet their development milestones as well. Highly recommend this if you’re thinking about joining!! Thanks so much Sophie, Cat and the wider team :-)
