    Amy

    Head Teacher

Hi guys! My name is Amy and I am originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne. I previously lived in New Jersey, USA for 5 and a half years as a nanny for 2 wonderful boys. It's my favourite place in the world!

I have always had a passion for working with 0-5 year olds. Their curiosity, wonder and joy is what inspires me everyday.

  • Gabii

    Gabii

    Gymboree Play & Music Teacher

Hey hey! My name is Gabii and I'm originally from Lincolnshire. I love working with kids because I love being a part of them conquering something new, whether it is their first time climbing to the top of a slide or their first time shaking a maraca! Seeing them smile with joy is truly the best!

My favourite pastime when not working is singing, dancing and anything related to music.

    Remote Manger/Administrator

Hi! My name is Esmée and I absolutely love working with Gymboree Play & Music Hackney & Islington. I have recently relocated back to my home county of Dorset (hello big commute!) and have worked with the company for over 5 years.

I love working with children because their imaginations are so wild! Anything is possible! I'm a big kid myself so being able to have fun and play is just so so important.

  • Kristina

    Kristina

    Gymboree Play & Music Teacher

Hello! My name is Kristina and I am from Kerala, India! I am a musician completing an MA at Middlesex university alongside teaching here at Gymboree Play & Music. I love singing and have been teaching little ones for over 2 years.

I love to play games and let my imagination take me on adventures. I don't get many adults who will join in with me, so my favourite companions are little kids! I also adore their curiosity and endless energy.

  • Sean

    Sean

    Gymboree Play & Music Teacher

Hi, my name is Sean and I love everything music related! From collecting vinyl to constantly updating my playlists I don't ever stop. As a teenager I performed 'Ain't Nobody' with Chaka Khan and I'll certainly bring the same energy to the Playfloor!

My favourite pastimes when not working are writing pop songs and reading books with nice covers.

We discovered the world of Gymboree Play & Music through our first child when she was a couple of months old. We were looking for a fun and stimulating activity for her and we had heard a lot about Gymboree Play & Music so we called up the head office and asked if there was one nearby. The short answer was 'Would you like there to be one?!' That really got us thinking and certainly we knew we would love there to be one and it coincided with maternity leave; a great recipe for a new career!

We fell in love immediately with the programming that is the true strength of Gymboree Play & Music, along with the fabulous teachers of course; each class being especially created for the specific age and development stage of the child.

It wasn't long after we opened in Islington that we wanted to branch further afield and we were confident that the child-loving nation of Italy could be Gymbo's next home.

Most of all at Gymboree Play & Music we love watching the children overcome little challenges each time they enter our space with growing awareness and self-confidence and big smiles on both the kids' and adults' faces. What makes Gymboree Play & Music so special is the mix that it brings, for example unique play equipment, movement, music, imaginary play activities etc. where children learn and develop and most of all have fun.

I’m so grateful to Gymboree- it’s been the best thing for my son Felix, who’s really active and he loves coming to the classes, learning to climb and jump and have fun with the themes. The teachers are amazing and it’s one of the highlights of our week, thanks for making this really difficult time of lockdowns and Covid much brighter for Felix!

It's was great over 2 years, from the beginning we knew its the best what we could give to Elijah for his development and fun. From the beginning we felt very welcome and part of the Gymbo family. We will always recommend Gymbore to our friends.

FAQs

Do I have to pay a joining fee to become a member?

Yes! Our regular joining fee is £30 per little one and this makes them a member until their 6th birthday. Joining fees are only paid once and are valid worldwide.

We ask that you stay members with us for an initial three month period

Are there any discounts on joining fees?

Absolutely! If you sign up within 24 hours of your free trial then your joining fee is reduced by 50%. This makes it just £15. Also, if your little one has a sibling who is already an active member then their joining fee will be reduced to £15 too.

How much do classes cost?

All of our payments are done on a monthly basis. They include one class per week with unlimited Open Gym sessions.

Play & Learn classes are £55
Music classes are £50
Babies classes are £46
Art classes are £65
Drop off classes are £85

All of our sessions are 45 minutes long with the exception of our drop off classes which are 1hr 15 minutes.

What is Open Gym and do I have to be a member to attend?

Open Gym is where we open up our Playfloor for you to come along and bring your little ones to play with no structured session. You can use all the equipment and class props during this time. Sessions are 45 minutes long.

These sessions are free and included on our timetable for all active members. You do have to have an ongoing class booking to be able to book in for one of these sessions. If you wish to attend with a sibling or a member who is not an active member then there is a £5 charge.

What is my cancellation notice for my active membership?

We ask that you stay members with us for an initial three month period. Cancellation of membership can then be made at any time with one month's notice in writing via email. On receipt of your written cancellation we will issue you with a confirmation email.

What happens if I need to reschedule a class?

We do not automatically give credits for when you are on holiday or miss a class and we ask that you do not bring sick children to class. However you can cancel and book in make up classes. Make up classes must be taken within one month of the missed class and cannot be taken once membership has ended. Once a make up class has been booked it can only be rearranged at staff discretion.

Are there any guidelines for when we are in sessions?

We have a few 'play policies' that we implement during sessions to make sure that everyone has the best, safest experience possible. Here are a few:

All adults must take their shoes off and wear clean socks and we ask that little ones go barefoot.

Adults must stay within a hug's reach of their child, especially when using the equipment.

No mobile phone use in class. It's time for play and interaction with your little one!

Food and drink are not allowed in class.

What is your photography policy?

Please check with your class leader for permission to take photos first. We ask that you only take photos of your little one unless you have permission from other adults to include their little ones in the picture.

What is your no illness policy?

Please do not come to class if either you or your little one are feeling under the weather. We ask that you cancel your classes and you can then rebook them in accordance with our make up class policy.

If you, your little one, or anyone else in your household display symptoms of Covid-19 then you will be asked to follow the government guidance for self isolation. This also applies if there has been any travel to areas which require quarantine.

Please note that we are still doing temperature checks upon arrival.

Reviews

Both of my children (3.5 years and 11 months) go to Gymboree Play & Music and love it. My toddler goes to their drop-off Lego class which she raves about. It's very creative, working not only on Lego skills but also painting, drawing etc. My infant son loves his Gymboree Play & Music Crawlers class - particularly loves crawling all over their props, through the tunnels, etc. Great way to get the infant crawling over obstacles! Gymboree Play & Music is part of our weekly schedule for both kids and we look forward to participating every week. Invaluable!

Gymboree Play & Music was a lovely and positive experience for my son Leo. We started when he was 9 months and he is now 3 years old, I wish we had started sooner.
He loves the songs (which is part of our daily singing at home), the freedom to explore and he was happy there. He looks forward to class every week and once class is over he will tell everyone about Gymbo and what he did.
For me, I liked that it taught him how to get down safely from a height, how to learn to use his body, and touching on different topics every 2 weeks. It gave me confidence in other environments to trust that he has the ability that he learned from Gymboree Play & Music and to trust him.

Absolutely amazing place! Especially Aaron from the Chiswick branch, always makes us feel very welcome there. He is extremely passionate and professional. His warmth and enthusiasm are precious. I would recommend that place to everyone! So happy we found it in our community. My son loves going there.
